BREEDING PROGRAM

Our Vision

The Service Dog Connection breeds only dogs that are genetically tested, OFA/PennHIP cleared, and of sound temperament.  We breed Golden Retrievers, Labradors, Newfoundlands, and mixes of those breeds.

All of our litters are raised with early neuro-stim and Puppy Culture, given lots of socialization, and will go home with a health exam from our veterinarian, deworming, their first puppy shot and microchip.  At 7 weeks old a local trainer puts each puppy through the Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test to determine what each puppy is best suited for: service dog work, therapy dog work, or pet life.  We keep 2-3 service dog candidates per litter for our training program and adopt out the rest.  Puppies that we do not keep can go to service and therapy dog programs, individuals wanting to train their own working dog, or into pet homes based on a puppy's temperament.

CURRENT LITTERS

LABRADOR PUPPIES BORN FEBRUARY 21, 2023

Bitsy is a 2yr old AKC English Labrador in our service dog program.  She has an exceptional temperament and her favorite task is alerting to medical issues.  Bitsy completed all health testing and was bred to a 90-pound yellow Labrador named Toby.  Toby also completed all necessary health testing.

This litter of 7 lab puppies was born February 21, 2023.  This litter will be raised with early neurological stimulation, puppy culture, early exposure, and will be temperament tested at 7 weeks of age. to determine who is best suited as a service dog, therapy dog, or pet.  Our program will keep a few of the service dog prospects, and the rest of the puppies will become available for adoption to the public.

UPCOMING LITTER PLANS

Newfie or NewfIe mix PUPPIES IN LATE 2023

Louise has completed all of her health testing including PennHip, OFA heart, eyes, hips and elbows, and genetic testing.

She had a fabulous first litter of Golden Newfie pups in late 2022 that produced 6 service dog candidates!  We look forward to future litters from her.  The next breeding we do will be either with a working line Newfoundland or with a Labrador.

Louise is an AKC Newfoundland from Umfleet Farms Newfoundlands with 9 generations of exceptional health testing.  She is a working therapy dog for our program and has a very gentle, mellow personality.

Doc & LOUISE

LABRADOR PUPPIES late 2023

Bitsy is a 2yr old AKC English Labrador in our service dog program.  She has an exceptional temperament and her favorite task is alerting to medical issues.  She has completed PennHip and genetic testing so far and will complete OFA Elbows, Eyes & Cardiac testing December 2022.

If all goes well with Bitsy's first litter of labs, we intend to repeat this breeding in the future.

PREVIOUS LITTERS:

Doc & Louise (Winter 2022)

Louise the Newfounldand is a working therapy dog and Doc the 90-pound Golden Retriever is a high drive, confident dog.  This breeding resulted in an amazing litter of healthy, social Golden Newfies born in November 2022.  We produced six service dog candidates, one therapy dog candidate, and two pets out of this litter of 9.

This litter was purposely bred to get larger 80-110 pound dogs with calm, friendly, task oriented temperaments for mobility/bracing, Autism, and psychiatric service dog work, and therapy dog work.

Louise is an AKC Newfoundland from Umfleet Farms Newfoundlands with 9 generations of exceptional health testing.  She is known for her very gentle, mellow personality.  Doc is a higher drive 90 pound Red Golden Retriever from 4 Love of Goldens with multiple generations of health testing as well.  Doc loves absolutely everyone!

These pups were raised with early Neuro Stim and Puppy Culture to give them the best start they can have.  At 7 weeks of age, they went through a temperament test called the Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test to determine which puppies were best suited for service dog, therapy, or pet placement.
