The Service Dog Connection will be breeding only dogs that are genetically tested, OFA/PennHIP cleared, and of sound temperament. We will breed Golden Retrievers, English Labradors, Newfoundlands, and mixes of those breeds.
All of our litters are raised with early neuro-stim and Puppy Culture, given lots of socialization, and will go home with a health exam from our veterinarian, deworming, their first puppy shot and microchip. At 7 weeks old a local trainer puts each puppy through the Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test to determine what each puppy is best suited for: service dog work, therapy dog work, or pet life. We keep 2-3 service dog candidates per litter for our training program and adopt out the rest. Puppies that we do not keep can go to service and therapy dog programs, individuals wanting to train their own working dog, or into pet homes based on a puppy's temperament.
Louise has completed all of her health testing including PennHip, OFA heart, eyes, hips and elbows, and genetic testing.
Louise was bred to a fabulous health tested Red Golden Retriever named Doc at the end of September 2022. If the breeding was successful then we will expect puppies just after Thanksgiving. Our purpose for this breed blend is to get calm, friendly, task oriented 80-110 pound dogs for mobility/bracing, Autism, and psychiatric service dog work.
Louise is an AKC Newfoundland from Umfleet Farms Newfoundlands with 9 generations of exceptional health testing. She is a working therapy dog for our program and has a very gentle, mellow personality.
Maple is a working therapy dog and Blanco is a working psychiatric service dog. This breeding resulted in an amazing litter of healthy, social Golden Retrievers born in April 2022. We produced four service dog candidates, two therapy dog candidates and three pets out of this litter of 9.
