The Service Dog Connection breeds only dogs that are genetically tested, OFA/PennHIP cleared, and of sound temperament. We breed Golden Retrievers, Labradors, Newfoundlands, and mixes of those breeds.
All of our litters are raised with early neuro-stim and Puppy Culture, given lots of socialization, and will go home with a health exam from our veterinarian, deworming, their first puppy shot and microchip. At 7 weeks old a local trainer puts each puppy through the Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test to determine what each puppy is best suited for: service dog work, therapy dog work, or pet life. We keep 2-3 service dog candidates per litter for our training program and adopt out the rest. Puppies that we do not keep can go to service and therapy dog programs, individuals wanting to train their own working dog, or into pet homes based on a puppy's temperament.

A Guardian home is a home that adopts one of our dogs/puppies that is intended to be part of our breeding program in the future. The family gets an awesome dog for free in exchange for that dog coming back to our program for a few litters once they pass all necessary health and temperament tests. Our program covers all breeding-related costs and takes care of the puppy whelping process.
Guardian homes help us continue our mission of providing quality service dog candidates to our clients and other service dog programs throughout the country.
SDC is looking for Guardian Homes that meet the following requirements:
We have Newfoundlands, Labradors, Golden Retrievers and Lab/Golden cross puppies that will all be needing guardian homes in 2025 and beyond. Most of the dogs looking for guardian homes are young puppies, but occasionally we have a young adult dog looking for a guardian placement.
Email theservicedogconnectionprogram@gmail.com if you are interested in becoming a guardian home for The Service Dog Connection!

Misty the Newfoundland is confident, driven to work/train, and very sweet. She has completed all of her necessary health testing and we plan to breed her as soon as she goes into heat next. The male we plan to use for this breeding is Falcon the Lab/Golden cross. He was placed as a multipurpose service dog.
We breed Newfoundland crosses specifically for mobility assistance dogs with larger bone structure, an even temperament, and desire to work.
